The Monster Trucks are a group of large, PMC-faction vehicles featured in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.

Overview[]

As the name indicates, the Monster Trucks are a group of lifted, high-powered trucks with reasonable speed and excellent off-road capability. They also have a hidden ability: the ability to drive over and crush smaller vehicles, which will destroy them. Caution is advised while doing this as it may destroy your monster truck. All models are fitted with powerful V8 engines, heavy-duty lifted suspension kits, and oversized tractor tires, making them more viable for offroad use.

These vehicles cost $20.0K to buy. They are exclusively available from the Pirates.

Models[]

One of the following three models will be randomly delivered upon requesting the Monster Truck drop:

  • Kodiak - Based off of the Summit SUV. It is painted green and has a supercharged engine.
  • Cougar - Identical to the Kodiak, except that it is pink and decorated with cougar paw-prints all over its bodywork.
  • Hurricane - Based on UP's Raven, it is painted in an eye-catching (if ugly) combination of ocean blue, lime green, and white. It has blue wheels. Unlike the Raven, the Hurricane is not equipped with a mounted gun. It appears to be the rarest of the three, with a very low drop rate.

Tactics[]

The Monster Trucks do not feature any weapons, driver-operated or otherwise. In addition, they only feature moderate Type 1 armor. This makes them more durable than most civilian vehicles, but not by much. They will be destroyed immediately by tank rounds and RPGs or other rockets. In addition, the Kodiak and Cougar can only carry one passenger, making them poor troop transports; although the Hurricane alleviates this somewhat with its four-person capacity. That said, its all-terrain capabilities can make it a viable choice for navigating unpaved roads, hilly areas, and warzones. The Monster Truck is therefore a good choice for traversing heavy terrain, but it is a poor choice in combat.

Real Life[]

The Kodiak and Cougar are mostly based off of late-1980s American SUVs such as the Chevrolet Blazer and Ford Bronco II. The Hurricane is based on the Chevrolet Avalanche and the Cadillac Escalade EXT.

Trivia[]

  • The Monster Trucks are capable of crushing any land vehicles, including tanks. This means that if the player can somehow land their monster truck on top of a tank, they will crush it and instantly destroy it. This even applies to the game's heavy tanks.
