Money cases are rare items featured in both Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction and Mercenaries 2: World in Flames which add funds to the player's account when collected by touching them.

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction[]

Money Cases are a rare item found in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. Essentially a large block of money, it provides the player an extra $5,000 when picked up. They are always found on the dead bodies of Russian Mafia Capos. They are very rarely found in the world when the player is not on a mission, but they are more common during certain missions; usually found in large stacks that when melee bashed will split apart into 5 sets of $5,000.

  • When encountering the Seven of Clubs, he will have a truck with five packs of five cases worth $5,000 each. Collecting all of them makes a total of $125,000. If the card is not verified, the money will respawn the next time the game is loaded, making it possible to get large amounts of money easily.

The money cases are found very frequently in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. Instead of being just a lot of money notes just tied up, they are inside actual relatively large silver brief cases. They can be found all over Venezuela where there are buildings nearby. They can be picked up simply by walking over them, they contain $25k. It might seem like a good idea to collect them at first, but as the game progresses $25k isn't usually worth collecting. A money case will respawn after loading the save, cannot be winched (the winch can push it around though).

They are more common in urban areas, they can be found in parks in cities such as Maracaibo and Guanare. One can is to the left of the entrance to La Cantina where the player starts off after being betrayed. There seems to be a lot of these cases in elevated locations in the Maracaibo Refinery but they are hard to access. Also, many can be found near Solano's henchmen during the invasion of Solano's Villa immediately after The Betrayal. Money cases and small cash bundles do not count as faction property, rest assured that no one will get angry if it is taken or blown up.

The money cases can be split by shooting at them, when they break, they split into $31k, the $5k bundles can be shot again to obtain a maximum total of $41k in the end, making it worth more in the end and probably an oversight by game designers.
