- "As used by the border patrol"
- — Merchant of Menace store caption
The K1025 Scout is the main ground vehicle used by the South Koreans in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction.
Overview[]
- "Nearly identical to the Allied M1025 Scout, but sporting a blue/white camouflage scheme."
- — Merchant of Menace store description
The K1025 is an exact, licensed copy of the AN M1025 Scout, painted a deep blue camouflage, with the South Korean flag on the sides of the vehicle. The K1025 is nearly identical to the other South Korean Scout vehicle, the K966 Scout. The only major differences between the two vehicles are the weapons.
The K1025 is armed with a .50 Caliber machine gun, while the K966 is armed with a TOW Missile Launcher. Both these vehicles can be found quite easily, just go to any city that is under SKU control and you will always find one, they can also be found in the southern province patrolling the roads between the DMZ and Kaesong in the south. However, they are much rarer in the northern cities such as Pyongyang due to the SKU not having as much control over there. In the Northern Province they can be found in a more varied amount of places from around the map.
The K1025 Scout will be available for purchase for a minimum of $20,000 and a maximum of $28,000 as soon as the Merchant of Menace is unlocked, after completing the contract 'Foothold'.
Tactics[]
Its specifications are exactly the same as the M1025 and K966. It has the same medium armour, average speed and average mobility and the same carrying capacity of 5 people. Like the AN one, it is equipped with a machine gun which is effective against infantry and light vehicles, but is useless against armored targets.
Real Life[]
The K1025 is a South Korean copy of the American-made, AN-fielded M1025 Scout, which is a slightly-fictionalized version of the real-life High Mobility Multi-Wheeled Vehicle, HMMWV, or Humvee. South Korea does not actually use the Humvee or any licensed copy of it, however, in spite of its longstanding alliance with the United States and use of American-based technology and equipment in numerous instances. Thus, unlike nearly all of the vehicles in "Playground of Destruction", the K1025 has no real-life equivalent.
