The Jaguar Tank is a medium tank used by the Venezuelan Army. It is armed with a driver-controlled 105mm cannon with forty two rounds and a gunner-controlled 12.7mm DShK Machine Gun with three hundred rounds of ammunition. It has strong, type 3 armor which is impervious to small arms fire, miniguns, .50 caliber machine guns and grenades, but is vulnerable to rockets, explosives and shells.

The Jaguar Tank can be considered a mix between the game's light tanks and heavy tanks. It's capable of dominating enemy light tanks in duels, but its armor isn't capable of standing up to a heavy tank head on.

The Jaguar Tank has a green, black, brown and tan camouflage pattern with a VZ flag on the left side of the turret. Is has smooth slopped armor, a tall radio antenna on the rear and non-functional smoke launchers around the turret.

The Jaguar Tank can be found inside sizable VZ bases and outposts, such as Angel Falls. It also appears in contracts where the player is required to fight the VZ. Other places include:

  • In a medium-sized unmarked military base just east of Guanare, two will spawn.
  • At a small unmarked military installation in the Amazon Rainforest, east of North Guanare. Look for it by going up the river.
  • In the mission 'Paint the Town'.
  • Can be purchased from the Pirates.

The Jaguar Tank is delivered by a heavy transport helicopter using smoke to signal the landing zone and requires one hundred and sixty gallons of fuel to be delivered.

Tactics[]

The Jaguar Tank is a powerful vehicle in the first half of the game, before the arrival of the Allied Nations and the People's Liberation Army and their Diplomat Heavy Tanks and Iron Mountain Heavy Tanks.

The only competition for the Jaguar Tank is Universal Petroleum's Mantis Light Tank, which is barely able to compete.

The Jaguar Tank should be used as a powerful tool of destruction that can destroy almost any threat encountered in the first half of the game. The biggest threats to the tank are large masses of anti-tank infantry, enemy Jaguar tanks, anti-tank helicopters and anti-tank stationary weapon emplacements.

Real Life[]

The Jaguar Tank is based on the French AMX-30 main battle tank. The Venezuelan military currently operates 84 AMX-30s. The AMX-30s and AMX-13C 90s are being phased out by the T-72s, but an upgrading program for them is underway. The AMX-30s will most likely be upgraded to the AMX-30B2 BRENUS, the equivalent of the in-game Jaguar Heavy Tank.
