Humanitarian Efforts is the tenth contract for the Allied Nations and the first for them in the fourth and last act of the Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction.
Overview[]
The contract involves retrieving a vaccine and delivering it the Allied MASH unit within the Tenement Ruins.
Objectives[]
- Retrieve the vaccine from the Allied medic
- Deliver the vaccine to the Allied MASH unit within the Tenement Ruins
- Too many civilian casualties will result in contract cancellation
BONUS: Deliver vaccine without incurring civilian casualties
Supplies & Support Given[]
- Surgical Strike - $40,000
The Contract[]
When the contract begins head towards the Allied MASH where the medic is. He will give you the vaccine, which you now need to deliver to the MASH unit within the Tenement Ruins. Unfortunately the ruins are tightly controlled by the Chinese. Entering the ruins will cause the Chinese to open fire on you, and their defenses include grenade MGs, which have a high chance of killing the many civilians wandering around. If a civilian is killed, you void the bonus, if ten civilians are killed, you fail the contract. Even if you obtain a Chinese disguise there are many officers around that will see right through them. An aerial entrance is also risky, as the Chinese have set up multiple Type-95s around the area, as well as SAM launcher equipped infantry.
Your best bet is to avoid all conflict entirely. Drive along the road that leads to Changsong Train Station, and once you're almost directly east of the ruins you'll see a section of the mountains that can be easily climbed by foot or vehicle. Head along this route and you should pass an area with some North Korean infantry scattered around (you'll be very close to where the Five of Spades is found). Continue along and you'll emerge behind the camp where the AN aid worker is located (if you see a few PLA soldiers with SAM launchers then you've reached the right place), avoiding the two Type-95s in front of the aid camp. Talk to the MASH doctor to give him the vaccine and complete the contract.
The contract is worth $80,000 and the bonus condition an additional $25,000. Intel regarding the location of the Eight of Spades will also be given.

Subject: Contract: 'Humanitarian Efforts'
The Chinese intervened in the refugee situation in the Tenement Ruins and are actively discouraging any further Allied aid efforts to the area. So you get to play the humanitarian, for once.

Transcript[]
The player enters the HQ
- Colonel Garrett: Welcome back, Merc. Got a simple delivery job for you. Unfortunately the Chinese are planning on complicating it. We've been bringing medical supplies to the civilian refugees in the Tenement Ruins to the northeast. Now the ministers in Beijing are afraid they'll cross the border and become China's problem, so they've order Colonel Peng to seal the whole area off. I need you to get in there and deliver our supplies to the civilians.
The player remains in the HQ
- Colonel Garrett: It's a humanitarian mission, I hope there's room for that sort of thing in your personal worldview.
The player still remains in the HQ
- Colonel Garrett: Some of those refugees are dying, soldier!
The player continues to remain in the HQ
- Colonel Garrett: And no civilian casualties! I don't care what happens to Peng's men.
The player accepts the contract
- Fiona: You actually get to do something heroic, this time out.
The player receives the vaccine from the medic
- AN Medic: Here's the vaccine. Get this to our medical unit as soon as possible.
If a civilian within the ruins is killed
- Fiona: No civilian casualties! Be careful!
If another civilian is killed
- Fiona: Another civilian casualty--be careful!
If ten civilians are killed
- Fiona: Too many civilians have been lost--the Allies are cancelling the contract.
The player delivers the vaccine to the MASH doctor
- AN MASH Doctor: They told me you'd bring the vaccine, many thanks. This will save lives.
- Fiona: Great job--the Allies now have the supplies they'll need to treat these refugees.
