The Messenger SAM is never seen driving around and is always parked at the Allied Nations Head Quarters to protect it from aerial attacks. It is almost always accompanied by a soldier carrying anti-air weapons.

The SAM turret is gunner controlled meaning the player will need an AI gunner occupy the position in order to attack enemy aircraft whilst moving.

It can be purchased at the Allied Shop for $45,000, costing more than the Guardian SAM, despite being less armored, armed and requiring two occupants to be able to attack and move.

Tactics[]

The Messenger SAM, although best suited for destroying helicopters, can be used to great effect on just about anything. The AA missiles can dumb-fire against anything short from a bunker to great effect; the machine gun is limited to the purpose of eliminating infantry. Contrary to the description, there is only one machine gun instead of the described two.

It is possible to melee the driver and passenger from outside the vehicle, but the gunner is safe inside the turret.

As with all Messengers, Anti-Material Rifles can damage and pierce through this vehicle and killing anyone using this vehicle for cover. The armor is relatively weak and can easily be destroyed by explosives and large caliber guns.

Real Life[]

The Messenger SAM is a modified AN/TWQ-1 Avenger.
