The Freedom Patrol Boat is an Allied Nations Patrol Boat that is featured in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.

Overview[]

The Freedom Patrol Boat is used by the Allied Nations for maritime blockades. It is armed with one M134 7.62mm minigun and four .50 caliber Browning M2 machine guns protecting the boat's flanks.

The Freedom Patrol Boat can be found at several AN outposts and in the lower hangar of the AN destroyers. When the boat is crewed, it will always have 1 driver and 2 gunners. It is the backbone of the AN Navy and is the one of the most powerful patrol boats in the game - destroying all other factions' light patrol boats with ease. It is however, inferior to larger patrol boats such as the Bladesong Missile Boat, as that boat's armor is a stronger type 3 (immune to bullets).

Tactics[]

This patrol boat is best utilized by players with one or more allies to set up on gunner positions. It is moderately fast and agile, with a respectable damage tolerance. The dual-mounted machine guns can easily shred light vehicles and infantry while the M134 machine gun makes relatively short work of helicopters and medium-armor targets as long as they are armor type 2 or less, and thereby vulnerable to bullets.

The Allied Nations will often use these patrol boats in very large numbers to swarm their enemies.

These boats take 80% damage from sea mines, so caution must be taken when navigating in mined areas.

Real life[]

The Freedom Patrol Boat is likely based off the Mark V Special Operations Craft - a small marine security, patrol and transport boat manufactured by Halter Marine Inc.[1]

Trivia[]

  • A glitch can cause one of these boats to spawn near the Allied Nations' HQ before the AN even invades Venezuela.
