The Control Vehicle is a North Korean radar jamming vehicle featured in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction.

Overview[]

The Control Vehicle is a jammer commonly utilised by the KPA forces throughout the Song Initiative. It resembles the SA-8 Anti-Air, but with eight wheels instead of six. Similar to other jamming vehicles, the Control Vehicle will jam the mercenary's SNS signal whenever they approach, negating their ability to call in air strikes and support.

In the Southern Province the Control Vehicle can be found near the Nine and Ten of Diamonds, and at most major NK facilities like the NK Artillery Base. It can also be seen at the Ichon launch site during 'A Farewell to Kings' and next to the Type-07 Prototype Supergun during 'Master of None'. In the Northern Province it can be found at the NK Garrison during 'Raw Materials' and at the Unsan Village during 'Two Degrees of Separation'. It also appears in the first and in the last Ace contract.

When destroyed it will give the player $10,000.

If delivered at full health to the Mafia chopshop with maximum faction standings, the player will still receive $10,000.

Tactics[]

The vehicle itself is surprisingly tough, taking a fair amount of small arms fire until it is destroyed, though explosives and anti-tank weaponry will make short work of it. This is not a useful vehicle for the mercenary, and the best option is to destroy it.

Real life[]

The Control Vehicle is not a real vehicle, however it seems to be inspired by the designs of the Russian amphibians 9K33 Osa and OTR-23 Oka, but instead of missile launchers, it is equipped with a radar jamming device.

Trivia[]

  • While driving the vehicle it can be noticed that the model of the mercenary compenetrates in the driver seat.
  • Like the K200 Surveillance, the entire game map will be jammed if the player delivers this vehicle to the Mafia. Reloading the game will fix this glitch.
