Because of the helicopter's stability, it is very effective to use the grenade launcher against light armour and oil tanks within enemy bases. The 20mm miniguns are effective against helicopters, and boats. The minigun's aiming system is a bit tricky to use against infantry as it does not fire any noticeable tracers. To hit infantry effectively you need to decrease your altitude to less than 100 feet and hold the helicopter in a hover, picking them off one by one. Be warned, using the above tactic for taking out infantry will leave very open to RPG and small arms fire. The rockets are effective against buildings, tanks and stationary vechicles.

Introduction

The Castro-II Attack Copter is anti-infantry helicopter used by the People's Liberation Army of Venezuela in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.

Overview

Another step up from the Castro Attack, this version now has two miniguns added to the side pointing forward which are controlled by the pilot, and a grenade launcher that can be used by the pilot, or the side seat passenger.

Tactics

The Castro-II is a very stable helicopter, due to this it is very effective to use the grenade launcher against light armour and oil tanks within enemy bases. The 20mm miniguns are effective against helicopters, light armour and light/medium boats. The rockets are effective against buildings, tanks and stationary vechicles, however, they will do much less damage to heavier tanks.

Real Life

The Castro series is based off the Bell "Huey" UH-1D helicopter widely used during the Vietnam War.

Trivia

  • Originally going to be called "Endriago".
  • Named after famous Cuban revolutionist Fidel Castro.
  • There is a glitch in the Xbox360 and PS3 versions of Mercenaries 2 in which, having an NPC passenger (that is, the "Shotgun" seat), the Castro II has infinite 40mm GL ammo
