The Bunker Buster is an Earth-Penetrating Weapon airstrike featured in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.
Overview[]
The bunker buster can first be used when recruiting Misha. Three Bunker busters must be stolen from a VZ controlled island. One of the bombs must then be dropped on Lieutenant Falcón's bunker. After this, Bunker Busters can only be found on the driveways of the Chinese targets in Allied occupied Caracas Buildings and the Estate. They are sold at the Allied Shop for a relatively low price.
The Bunker Buster is laser guided and when called in will be dropped by Misha's MiG-27. Upon impact the bomb will deal relatively weak and small area damage similar to a single artillery strike impact, this is followed by a shockwave and a large explosion that can destroy all types of buildings in a relatively large area except Solano's nuclear bunker. The bunker buster is very effective against buildings and bunkers because the shockwave it creates will often destroy surrounding structures, though is it very hard to use against infantry and vehicles due to the time to deliver and limited lethality radius against non-building targets.

Real Life[]
The Bunker Buster is likely based on the GBU-28. Bunker Busters work by first penetrating the bunker's outer shell, and exploding shortly thereafter while inside the bunker. This is the main difference between bunker busters and normal bombs, which explode on impact. Bunker Busters were first used in World War II and weighed between 5 and 10 tonnes, using their sheer mass to smash through bunker roofs.
