The Alamo-class Missile Destroyer is an Allied Nations Destroyer featured in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.
Overview[]
The Alamo-class can first be seen on the mission where Agent Joyce sends you to destroy the CIA plane on Isla de Margarita. It is located just east of the northern most Caracas Outpost. After you help the Chinese with the Price of Gas contract, the AN send two more Alamos which are located in lake Maracaibo just north and south of the UP refinery.
The Alamo is not a drivable vehicle, it is more of a floating building like the UP oil tankers or cargo ships, although it can still be explored. It contains two hangers, one for helicopters and one for boats underneath the flight deck. The Alamo is harder to destroy than most ships since it's a warship and can shoot back with a 127mm cannon on the front deck, although with a Bladesong Missile Boat it is an easy target.
Real Life[]
The Alamo-class Missile destroyer is based on the US navy's San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock. These ships have played a vital role in the war on terror, carrying everything necessary for a small-scale invasion or a large amphibious assault.
Trivia[]
