The Ace of Clubs, Dung Hwangbo, is the head of Division 39, a state-sponsored mafia that funds Song's nuclear weapons program in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction.

ExOps Bio[]

Name: Dung Hwangbo
"Hwangbo was Minister of Foreign Affairs under four different administrations. Prior to President Kim’s reformation, Hwangbo was responsible for keeping graft and vice in North Korea firmly under government control. His private organization, Division 39, operated as a state-sponsored mafia until President Kim dismissed him. He was then put as one of the Aces for General Song."

Overview[]

The Ace of Clubs, Dung Hwangbo, is the first ace that the Mercenary goes after in the game during the contract 'Bringing Down the House'. He hides inside Song Tower, until you destroy it, forcing him out.

After the tower's destruction he will run away while an Mi-35 Gunship and Mi-2 Light Attack covers him as he escapes towards a small base near the coast that contains a single barracks, alarm and helipad containing a single MD-500 Scout which the Ace will try to get into unless you stop him. The base is populated by a small number of KPA troops and RPG soldiers. If the player had already destroyed everything in the barracks, including the chopper, he will fight the mercenary to his death or capture.

GSRN Report[]

Upon capturing/verifying the Ace of Clubs, GSRN Trucks will broadcast the following report:

"Finally, after weeks of searching, Ace of Clubs Dung Hwangbo, was captured earlier today. This represents a significant triumph in the Allied effort to capture General Song and his aides."

Trivia[]

  • Hwangbo was defended in his final fight by the Defender of Hwangbo, a pilot who flew a Mi-35 Gunship. Air support by the AN takes out the chopper almost instantly though.
  • He will not fight you until he reaches the small camp.
  • Hwangbo is the only Ace to have not made the Korean People's Army his career, but with North Korea's policy of universal conscription, he would have served at least a few years in the military.
